Mid-Range Waste Balers
Mid-Range waste balers
Built for consistent daily waste handling.
Our mid-range waste balers help businesses compact dry recyclables – including paper, cardboard, and plastic film – into tidy packages that streamline storage and reduce disposal costs. Larger than entry-level models, they can confidently produce balers of up to 300kg, making them ideal for organisations handling moderate to high volumes of waste on site. Yet, thanks to their small footprint, they don’t command a floorspace premium – providing extra capacity while keeping setups compact. With four mighty machines in this range – the RWM 100, RWM 150, RWM 250, and RWM 300 LH – there’s a high-quality solution for every job, revered across manufacturing, warehousing, distribution, retail, hospitality, healthcare, and public sector environments. Whether you’re improving workplace safety, seeking big collection savings, or simply want to boost your sustainability credentials, talk to us about your requirements.
Waste balers
What is a mid-range waste baler?
A mid-range waste baler is a vertical, medium-sized machine that compresses recyclable materials into manageable bales ranging from 100kg to 300kg. Compared to compact models, they typically feature larger feed apertures and more powerful hydraulic systems, allowing operators to process greater volumes of cardboard, paper, and plastics while maintaining a relatively modest footprint.
But waste reduction isn’t the only benefit. By producing bigger, denser bales, mid-range waste balers can help reduce collection costs, improve storage efficiency, minimise manual handling, and increase the value recovered from recyclable materials.
While specifications vary between models, most operate using the same core process:
- Material is loaded through the front-facing aperture into the baler’s chamber
- A hydraulic ram drives downward, compressing the material under significant force
- The compaction cycle repeats until the required bale size and density are achieved
- When the baler is full, the operator ties the bale with wire or tape
- The finished bale is ejected on to a pallet – ready to stack, store, or transport

What materials does it bale?
Most Riverside balers are used to compact cardboard, paper, plastic film, and other dry recyclables. However, some of our larger and more powerful models are also suitable for denser or more specialist materials, including rigid plastics like PET and HDPE, light metals like aluminium cans, and textiles from production or returns processing. The right machine depends not only on the material itself, but also on the volume generated, available space, and how you need the finished bale to be handled. If you're unsure about suitability, get in touch and we’ll be happy to advise.

Bringing benefits in abundance
01
Reduce disposal costs
By compressing bulky waste into compact bales, businesses can reduce the number of collections needed – lowering transport, skip hire, and disposal fees long term.
02
Improve Workplace Safety
Loose waste lying around can be a trip hazard and a fire risk. A mid-range waste baler helps keep waste contained, creating a cleaner and safer environment for your team.
03
Enhance sustainability
When companies separate and compact their recyclables successfully, they can satisfy growing stakeholder expectations and ensure compliance with tightening waste regulations.
04
Streamline organisation
Instead of stealing precious space on site, waste material is compressed into neat bales that stack easily – freeing up valuable floor space and driving operational efficiency.
05
Minimise downtime
Constructed with durability in mind, our machines are engineered to perform reliably in demanding environments, keeping maintenance requirements and outage risks low.
06
Operate with ease
Combining a front-loaded design with user-friendly controls, our mid-range waste balers plug into busy workflows with ease – no complex training or complicated setup needed.

"SWM are committed to safety, which is one of the key factors in sustaining relationships with suppliers and contractors – that’s why Riverside Waste Machinery Ltd has been servicing our internal balers successfully for a number of years. We recently needed to purchase a tipping skip and – despite not being advertised on their website at that time – Riverside happily provided a quote, which we accepted, and delivery was made promptly after."
